The Race
The ninth annual Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon will take over the Virginia Beach oceanfront on September 6, 2009. Over 20 local bands are set to play on 14 stages along the course. Some of the premier east coast bands will keep you groovin' towards the finish line! You will be treated to everything from classic rock to R & B and reggae to disco.
Headliner Concert - Dancin' on the Sand!
Come boogie on the beach with 20,000 of your closest friends! After you dash by our course bands, make a stop at our headliner concert. All race participants receive free entry into the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon post-race concert. The 2008 headline band will be announced closer to the event. Past acts have been 3 Doors Down, Counting Crows, LIVE, Goo Goo Dolls, Sugar Ray, Collective Soul, and Journey.
Verizon Wireless American Music Festival
If all this music is making you want to dance, check this out! With your race entry, you will receive free entry into all American Music Festival concerts! The biggest music event on the East Coast, the American Music Festival, annually features a blockbuster lineup of national recording acts playing the nation's favorite sounds. Performances take place at the 17th and 24th Street Oceanfront Parks and stages along the boardwalk, as well as at stages located on the sand at 5th and 29th Streets. More than 50 concerts on 10 stages - and it's all free to Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon participants!
One Rockin' Course!
Fast as it is flat, these 13.1 seaside miles stretch through one of America's most scenic beach communities. The race starts adjacent to the Virginia Beach Convention Center, runs through the resort area, and finishes on the breathtaking oceanfront boardwalk.

This event benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and has raised $4.6 million in the past 3 years.
